PRINCIPIUM EP (2014)
Winners of the 2014 Heavy Music Magazine & Wifire Music
digital distro competition, CARBON BLACK's PRINCIPIUM TOUR 2014
will see them trek far and wide across the country, performing alongside some of Australia's most crushing metal acts such as King Parrot, LORD, In-cyde and Segression
. The tour started in March with triumphant shows in Sydney, Newcastle, Byron Bay, Adelaide and Wollongong.
In 2013 CARBON BLACK
made a hard hitting debut on the live music scene, with performances at Club LED Newcastle, The New Dead Metal Festival
on the Central Coast, The Sydney Dime Show and Wollongong Metal Meeting
in their hometown. The band then entered Main Street Studios with Producer/ Engineer Darren 'Jenk' Jenkins (Mortal Sin, George Clinton, Mother Superior
) to record their debut CD-EP (6 tracks), titled PRINCIPIUM
. A music video was filmed with local studio Wicked Bee Productions for the track "Fade Away", under the Direction of award winning filmmaker Daniel Cartwright.
hail from the East Coast of New South Wales, in Australia. Bassist Rob Giles and Guitarist Damon Bishop gained considerable exposure in their previous band NEKROFEIST
who together produced a number of albums and music videos after scoring a government arts prize in 2009. Jonathan Hurley had more than capably filled in the vocalist role in Nekrofeist a number of times, so when the time came to start a new project Damon and Rob knew that Jon was the man. In July 2014, Luke Cook (ex-Mortal Sin
) was announced as Carbon Black's new drummer.
The EP Principum is from Carbon Black, a 4 piece unit. I used this term unit instead of a group mainly for the fact that these lads were as tight as... well you know ... a frog's nether region ...
