RISE OF AVERNUS are a progressive doom metal five piece from Sydney, Australia, exploring dark and poignant themes with impassioned classical piano arrangements and a unique down tempo theatricality. In August 2012 Rise of Avernus made their presence known by playing one of their first live shows supporting Finnish giants APOCALYPTICA. The band is now poised for another big year in 2013 as they are set to release their first full length album, followed by a tour across Australia with progressive black legends ENSLAVED.
RISE OF AVERNUS' debut, self-titled three track EP was officially released on 13th March 2012. The EP features three engrossing epic doom metal tracks and was mixed and Mastered by Ryan Huthnance (THE SEER/MORTAL SIN). Lead track, 'Beneath the Frozen Hand of Time', features vocal contributions from Marc Grewe, front man of the legendary German death metal group, MORGOTH. Grewe's vocals were generously recorded while visiting Australia last year.
