The Creptter Children – Asleep With Your Devil (EP Review)

The Creptter Children are a gothic/industrial hard rock band from Australia, formed in 2006 by Iballa Chantelle and Nator (aka N8OR). They describe their unique sound as “nightmares put to music”.

The band’s debut album ‘Possessed’, was released in 2010, with a supporting tour the following year. The band went on hiatus for a short period of time, re-emerging Halloween 2016 with a new single ‘Watching You’. Signed to Imminence Records, The Creptter Children are set to unleash their new E.P. ‘Asleep With Your Devil’ … set for a January 2018 release.

Having the confidence to develop and evolve your musical style to stay fresh and at the forefront of your chosen genre of music, is something The Creptter Children are not lacking. The bands single release from last year, ‘Watching You’, showed the band moving towards a more aggressive and brutal approach to their style of music, with their upcoming E.P. ‘Asleep With Your Devil’ following the same progression. The year 2018 is gonna get off to a ferocious start for The Creptter Children as they blast their way to a whole new level of intensity and aggression with their best ever offering.

‘Watching You’ opens the E.P. with a venomous vocal delivery and guitar riff that is so brutal you may end up hospitalised. Mean and moody, ‘Watching You’ will have you stomping your feet hard…and banging your head even harder. ‘Crazy’ brings a hauntingly chilling atmosphere to proceedings and a superb vocal performance from singer Iballa. Foot tappingly addictive, ‘Crazy’ brings a more melodic feel to the E.P. opening the band’s music up to fans of the hard rock and heavy metal genres too. The sheer brutality of the intro to ‘Asleep With Your Devil’ will crush skulls and break bones, such is its heaviness. Imagine if you will the offspring of a ‘Reign In Blood’ era Slayer and a ‘Vulgar Display Of Power’ era Pantera .

. .

‘It’s A Game’ is a nod back to the “old” sound of The Creptter Children, a spooky atmosphere, chilling vocals and a hint of the symphonic. A melodic hard rock undertone keeps ‘It’s A Game’ infectious and catchy, with its sing-along, anthemic style chorus an absolute delight. Bringing the E.P. to a close is the brutal ‘Killer’, a furious, head-bashing, neck wrecking explosive blast of energy. In 1986, Slayer took on the world with twenty-eight minutes of genre-changing music…in 2018 The Creptter Children have taken just sixteen minutes to make a similar impact. On the up and in your face, The Creptter Children have stepped up to the plate and delivered an awesome array of hard-hitting and brutal songs.

Overall, a breathless explosion of brutal riffs, powerful vocals and head crushingly heaviness, look out world, The Creptter Children are taking over.
