Future Static Release New Single ‘Swing’

Australian breakthrough heavy act Future Static have unveiled their powerful new single ‘Swing‘, a furious backlash to oppressive political systems.

‘Swing’ was written in reaction to the US Supreme Court repealing Roe v Wade and in anger at the political pendulum swing to the right in Australia and across the world, creating laws that reduce the rights of women, minorities and all oppressed people. The lyrics express resentment at the lack of empathy of the politicians and powerful people creating and lobbying for these laws and causing harm. The unrelenting riffs and crushing breakdowns only emphasise the fury.

Bassist Kira Neil comments: “’Swing’ is for anyone feeling targeted and unsupported by the unjust systems of the world. We see you, we’re with you and we’re angry as hell”.

‘Ornaments & Memories’ displays a darker and more philosophical side than Future Static’s debut LP Liminality, exploring internal and external conflict, growth, change and love. Amongst bouncy riffs and soul crushing breakdowns, passionate guitar solos and leads, dramatically stacked vocal parts and frantic drum fills, this album is musically and thematically inspired by the ebbs and flows of living in a rapidly accelerating world.
