Iron Savior - AWESOME ANTHEMS OF THE GALAXY

Iron Savior are a heavy metal band from Germany formed in 1996 by Piet Sielck, releasing the bands self titled debut album in 1997. In a career spanning three decades, Iron Savior have released thirteen studio albums (I’m not including the bands “Reforged” trilogy of re-recorded material) and one live one, 2015’s ‘Live At The Final Frontier’. And in 2026, the German metallers released ‘Awesome Anthems Of The Galaxy’ – a collection of seventeen of the 1980’s most iconic pop hits, transformed into blistering power metal epics across a one hour and ten minute run-time!

Founded thirty years ago by guitarist/vocalist Sielck, Iron Savior quickly rose to international stardom and have consistently been a major force on the world metal stage throughout the bands entire career – a career which is far from over! The band are set to release their fourteenth studio album ‘Deathbringer’ later this year featuring the line-up of guitarist Joachim Kustner, drummer Patrick Klose (Chris Boltendahl’s Steelhammer) and bass player Patrick Opitz (Cold Revenge) alongside Sielck – and for me, one of the years most anticipated releases! However, that album is for future discussion, ’cause right here right now ‘Awesome Anthems Of The Galaxy’ sees, or rather hears Iron Savior embark on “their most daring mission yet…

…from the electrifying rush of A-ha’s ‘Take On Me’ and the thunderous drama of Phil Collins’ ‘Against All Odds’, to the cinematic pulse of Jermaine Jackson & Pia Zadora’s ‘When The Rain Begins To Fall’ and the adrenaline-fuelled Michael Sembello hit ‘Maniac’, Iron Savior transform timeless hits into heroic, melodic, full-throttle power metal journeys”.

Alongside the four songs mentioned above, ‘Awesome Anthems Of The Galaxy’ is completed by covers of ‘Fame’ and ‘What A Feeling’ (both Irene Cara), ‘All I Need Is A Miracle’ (Mike And The Mechanics), ‘Relax’ (Frankie Goes To Hollywood), ‘Separate Ways’ (Journey), ‘Suburbia’ (Pet Shop Boys), ‘Here Comes The Rain Again’ (Eurythmics), ‘She’s Like The Wind’ (Patrick Swayze), ‘(I Just) Died In Your Arms’ (Cutting Crew), ‘Forever Young’ (Alphaville), ‘Since You Been Gone’ (Russ Ballard), ‘Call Me’ (Blondie), and ‘Catch Me I’m Falling’ (Real Life).

About ‘Awesome Anthems Of The Galaxy’, Sielck comments “we are absolutely proud of all the songs which never lose the vibe of the originals yet is one hundred percent Iron Savior. Just listen yourself, I guarantee a lot of smiles while doing so” – and I agree! I’ve been wearing a smile a mile wide all album long!

Overall, a superb album full of cover songs, Iron Savior have re-energised and fused heavy metal into seventeen iconic pop hits from the 1980’s.
