Nahasheol - Serpens Abyssi

Dutch Black Metalers Nahasheol unleashed a cold violent album named “Serpens Abyssi”.

Let the ritual begin with a sinister sick guitar intro. “Arcanum Mortuus” continues with a harsh drum that announces a compressed growl.

After 7 minutes of pure blizzard doom, comes “The Aetheric Void”. This song is another 7 minutes of dense matter.

Good thing that the Dutch slowed down, at least in the intro of “The Awakening” which gives us the same vibes as the intro of “Arcanum Mortuus”. Then they proceed with even more intensity and a more notorious blended blackened aroma.

A fire-breathing fried voice can be heard in “Bringer of Divine Ecstasy”, which has a horror movie theme song in the middle, at first seems like an ending, but it keeps haunting the audience before the bass drum kicks in to continue the ritual.

“Mambah Maa” is one of the darkest and most obscure songs of this album. In other words, a ferocious attitude that defines a deep tone.

“Devan Thanatha” is another 7 minutes sailing. The hired gun drummer does his job well, especially with the blast beat. The chorus is a great detail that you cannot miss. Riffs are shining in this gloomy ride.

The Dutch duo has crafted a debut album that captures the essence of Black Metal. “Serpens Abyssi” is an album that follows the rules and traditions of Black Metal. Sure, it sounds and is seasoned with some blackened flavour. Nevertheless, it is going to be exciting to hear more of them, and they could evolve into something else. Nahasheol’s first full-length production is very rusty in a good way, because that is the dissonance of Black Metal. Be aware of a long cold winter that can even trigger the strongest minds.
