Turn From Temptation – This Is Our Time (EP Review)

Turn From Temptation - This Is Our Time

Hmmm not bad at all. These guys have some pretty damn cool riffs. Not 100% certain how to describe their sound but the riffs are somewhere between hard rock and thrash. They list their influences as Bullet For My Valentine, As I Lay Dying Official, Killswitch Engage, and Atreyu – none of which I have ever gone out of my way to listen to. It’s almost like a mash-up of styles with one foot firmly planted in Hard Rock and the 2nd firmly planted in Thrash.

There are 2 vocalists singing different parts to each song with one doing the clean hard rock style vox & the 2nd doing the screamo thrash style singing which I’m not a massive fan of. This style of clean and thrash vocals – on the same tune at times – reminds me of the Evanescence mega-hit Bring Me To Life from all those years ago but don’t let that deter you.

There’s plenty of typical double kick style drumming which you would expect on a release like this, the guitar solos are melodic but still shred which is always a fine line.

Overall this is a very strong debut from these guys and I’m sure they’ll gain a loyal following with this. Definitely worth checking out.
