Accidental President – Accidental President (Album Review)

It has been a while since Accidental President has released anything, but the time is almost upon us and we’re pretty excited. Look, I’m not going to bore you with that whole argument as to whether this is metal or not. It slaps and that’s all you need to worry about. I saw online that they aligned themselves to an ‘Evanescence’ and the like, but I just don’t see it. This isn’t some gothic teenage Nu Metal band, this is straight out hard rock that has more aligned to Iron Maiden than it does the fads of the early 2000s.

But let’s talk about the production. It is largely stripped down, which for a seasoned metalhead this can take some getting used to. The guitars, while groovy in many sections, are not the focal point. The voice very much is which I like, but I think this band has more to offer.

There are some clever melodic sections in this release that pricked up my ears, but largely, it’s a release that explores the good old fashioned pup-style rock. You can almost smell the decades of beer that have been progressively spilled on the bar floor, never to be retrieved. I will say one more thing about the guitars though, at times there is more use of the wah than Hammett, which I’ve always been a fan of so fight me.

Suitable for those who think screaming in music is stupid because you can’t understand what they are saying.
