INTERVIEW: Konstantine – Acrolysis

Interview by Jhossbert Gonzalez

Acrolysis

Sounding like a manifestation of raw anger and emotion, Acrolysis combine a musical style reminiscent of old school metal bands and combine politically charged lyrics, in an attempt to honestly reflect, criticise, and comment on today’s society. We grab a few words from Konstantine to find out more on the band.

Metal-Roos: Welcome to Metal-Roos, Konstantine. It’s a great pleasure to have you here in the interview.

Konstantine Ana: Thanks for having me man, man. An absolute pleasure to be here 😀

M-R: To all the readers, what is Acrolysis? When the band began into the world of metal?

KA: Acrolysis is a three-piece band. Started by me, Bamay and Baba. We met in 2016 but didn’t start getting out there until 2017. Acro to us is a platform to express our shared concerns. The three of us are very political and have similar views about the world and we have something to say about it. We think it’s time for someone to say something. To be honest, how couldn’t you in today’s erratic climate?

MR: What influences inspired you to make heavy metal music?

KA: Hearing Motorhead’s Ace of Spades when I was four was what got me into liking heavy music. And then I’ve been going down that rabbit hole ever since, haha. Bands like Black Sabbath, Metallica, Deep Purple, have sonically inspired us. Lyrically though, I’ve always loved punk, guys like Dead Kennedys and Black Flag, mainly because it’s rebellious, anti-authority, super political. Love shit like that.

M-R: Until now the band has 1 demo and 1 EP how was the reception of the public with them?

KA: People are digging it. Our EP Black Dog’s Serenade was our first real attempt at a recording you could say, haha.  Playing some of the songs live and seeing people dig them is very cool because you never really know how the songs will translate to a live scenario. But so far, so good.

M-R: How do you see the Australian Metal Movement actually?

KA: It’s a huge pool of very small, very close, and very unique and talented people. I’m constantly coming across Aussie metal bands both up and coming and established that really try and create something that is independent of everything else. There are so many bands I could list off the top of my head, but I’ll be here for a while, haha. I’m proud to be considered part of this group of people, it’s a pleasure.

M-R: Any future plans or tours in the near future?

KA: There are a few things we have planned for 2020. A little Aussie tour, an EP with a twist and we’re beginning production on an album. So, lots of stuff that needs doing but gonna be excited to get it done so people can dig their teeth into it

M-R: Thanks, Konstantine, its an honour to have you here. Tell your social networks to all the fans of heavy metal:

KA: Yeah, we’re on the usual social media platforms, ya know? Facebook, Instagram, Youtube. We’ve got our new EP Black Dog’s Serenade up on Spotify and Bandcamp as well so check it out.
