Aggression is a thrash metal band from Canada, formed during the mid-eighties thrash metal explosion. During a four decade line-up changing and hiatus-riddled career, the band have released six studio albums – ‘The Full Treatment’ (1987), ‘Forgotten Skeleton’ (2004), ‘Fragmented Spirit Devils’ (2016), ‘Feels Like Punk, Sounds Like Thrash’ (2018), ‘From Hell With Hate’ (2022), and ‘Frozen Aggressors’ (2023).
Just a little over twelve months ago, Aggression sent shockwaves around the world with their highly volatile, and extremely savage (fifth) album ‘From Hell With Hate’ – and now, the Canadian thrash metal machine are back! And thrashing harder than ever – the band’s new album a tsunami of thrash spanning thirty-eight ferocity-laden minutes and eight songs. ‘Frozen Aggressors’ is fierce, fast, and brutal, exploding into life with the supersonic instrumental ‘C.H.U.D. Invasion’ – a furiously fast three and a half minutes of all-out savagery! An absolutely blistering start to the album, Aggression roars on with the meaner, but nonetheless furious ‘Circus Of Deception’, the Canadian thrash metal machine in full flight! The speed across the opening two songs has been incredible, the aggression-loaded vocals perfectly suited to this type of savagely quick thrash.
And just when you thought the album couldn’t go any quicker, Aggression ignites the afterburners, increasing the thrust tenfold, rocketing off at a phenomenal pace – ‘Song #666’ an immensely head bang-able song that just may rock yer head right off its shoulders! ‘Song #666’ is so fucking fast, blink and you’ll miss it – as you might ‘Crib Of Thorns’, keeping the blazing speed well and truly alive! Aggression has been around for a few years now, and boy do they know how to thrash – pace, power and ferocity is very much the band’s staple ingredient with regards to songwriting. And with the shockwaves from their 2022 album ‘From Hell With Hate’ still reverberating around the world, the band send even more shockwaves – these ones strong enough to knock planet Earth off its fucking axis! Beware everyone, ‘Frozen Aggressors’ is cataclysmic! And with no end in sight from the brutal battering on offer, Aggression adopts the almighty foot-stomping style of thrash for ‘Holidays In Sodom’, the band shuddering the ground with immense force. With walls crumbling and buildings falling down, ‘Holidays In Sodom’ marches on by to leave only a desolate wasteland behind.
The band’s high level of ferocity, aggression and brutality is overwhelming, liable to leave cuts and bruises on every listener, fan and follower, the band is an unforgiving force of nature, storming on with the terrifying, howling and growling ‘Satanic Cult Gangbang’. There’s just no escape from the album’s fast and furious pace, the level of headbang ability higher than Mount Logan, located in Kluane National Park And Reserve in southwestern Yukon (Canada) – ‘Queen Of The Damned’ maintaining the album’s incredible intensity! An intensity that began minute one with song one – and hasn’t slowed, dipped or shrunk in any way shape or form! Aggression is relentless in their pursuit to deliver thrash metal heaven, or should that be armageddon! Either way, the band are decimating, yet delighting listeners everywhere with a brutal onslaught of all-out thrash – ‘Frozen Aggressors’ coming to an end with the longest song on offer, ‘Hyperspectral Winter Incursions’. Clocking in at eight and a half minutes in length, ‘Hyperspectral Winter Incursions’ is by far and away much longer than any other song, and has everything you could ever wish for in an epic album ender! There’s a mellow and atmospheric lead-in, menace, fear, pace, and aggression – and that’s all I’m gonna say, cause I don’t wanna give away all of the song’s incredible twists and turns!
Overall, a blistering all-out thrash metal attack with immense levels of aggression, ferocity and head-bang ability.
