ANNALYN - Failure Will Find Me

Thai moshers ANNALYNN have been picked up by Australian label Greyscale Records in recent years. The first international band to sign to the label was Japan’s Paledusk and you can see plenty of comparisons between the two.

“Failure Will Find Me” contains four tracks and they all sound massive. The band have been running for close to 20 years and are stalwarts of the Thai scene. They have played through Asia on a regular basis and made their first visit to Australian shores last year supporting Void of Vision.

As the recent Speed tour through South East Asia showed, there is a huge heavy music scene throughout many countries with many bands running for many years, and plenty of interest in visiting bands.

Opener “Circle The Flame” begins with chanted lines, a handclap style beat, then a huge breakdown and things don’t let up for a while from there. The tracks all feature a pulsating baseline and driving drums to keep the action running.

Final track “Disappear”, which was released as a single last year, has more of a focus on the clean vocals (the missing pieces can’t be filled up, filled up), with a very catchy chorus keeping the listener hooked before running into the wall of a major breakdown. You can hear various synth backings throughout the album, but the biggest influence is on the start of “Bathed in Sin” before it delves into a driving force of metalcore.

With three albums and a few EPs to their name, fans will be looking for a longer release, but this is a great taster from the Thai metalcore band. Fans of bands like Polaris, The Amity Affliction and Alpha Wolf are well worth giving this band a spin. Being signed to an Australian label, it might not be too long until they return to these shores.
