Barbarian Prophecies – Horizon (Album Review)

Spain’s Barbarian Prophecies release their fifth full-length effort. the very metal Horizon.

From the Moment Alfa begins and the twin guitar melody comes at you, Horizon is an album that throws you back and forward through many musical genres. The Basis is metal and must always be but there are some large galloping moments and lots of mid-paced thrash combined with short sharps blasts of death metal, and some black metal vocals.

Among Us is a mid-paced stomper whilst Supreme vampire is a more tortured re-recording of the very first track written by the band 21 years ago updated with blast beats but also that gallop the band do so well.

Phi is Just plain heavy, with lots of double kick and yet more twin guitar melody that breaks up some of the thrash inspired assault. Morte Negra further exemplifies the excellent guitar work before delving into heaviness and back again, a rich layered track, that is offset by the crunch that is the epic closer Omega.

Horizon is a metal album that combines all the various musical influences into a single cohesive effort tinge with the band’s unique flair. For fans of classic/thrash metal and excellent guitar work, this is a must-listen.
