Bathory Legion – Latomie

Described as extreme Avant Garde art Bathory Legion began as a solo project in 2005 through the prolific creations of its creator and namesake Bathory Legion. He has taken the notions of extreme music and combined it with electronica and harsh industrial sounds, Latomie (prison) continues the harrowing experience with release number 13.

Latomie is an album that survives with its myriad of malevolent noisescapes and industrial terror, it is unrelenting as it is furious without the speed. The samples and overdubs are a constant presence against some hellish percussion and feeling of over the top where more is more in the electronic creations. It’s experimental, black industrial and Avant Garde where no sound or idea is left unexplored.  There are sparse moments of ambient, yet the malevolent sounds of Bloodthirsty Darkness and Bloodthirsty Darkness II offer a restrained respite that is harrowing and covered in a mystique and subtlety that is missing from the lunacy of ‘’ Intro – Det Er Ikke Ægte’’ and its torturous percussion. It is a jackhammer of relentless aggression that ‘’ In His Own Words [T.K.]’ explores through repetition creating a hypnotic type of effect that is best represented in ‘’ Resonating Pandemonium’. The eccentricities of ‘’The Play Game’’ are endured whilst LCC excels in exploring a dark cavernous atmosphere that creates a thick cloying presence that is dark and twisted.

Polarizing and defiant of categorization. Latomie combines sinister with pure electronics to create an inexplicable release of ideas that coalesce into a form. Bathory Legion is the ultimate combination of artistic freedom and inspiration.
