The hailed mantra ‘’This is your destruction ‘’ off the excellent ‘’Awaiting your Downfall” sets the tone. Austrian Duo Bezerker is intent on delivering maximum Black metal destruction and hatred on their debut album Pereat Mundus.
Sacred Putresecence is an ode to disgust and old-school black metal that takes its simplest elements and craft something dark and loathing.
The riffs and rhythms are crystal clear, giving the band the opportunity to pile off the hatred and loathing.
From its Synth-laden creation of dread Immanentization of Eschaton is an epic ten-minute journey throughout their blackened realm of hellfire, from almost pure metal moments to raw black speed that moves, it is also memorable before more flashes of speed and more big riffing.
Berzerkers approach is simple taking Black metal and infusing it with thrash and old-school metal “The Art Of Slaughter” and “isolation” to keep things intense and atmospheric. Whilst it may not break any barriers in terms of originality, Bezerker takes their influences and move them into new directions when it slows the atmosphere is more prevalent and the keyboards add that extra layer to their storytelling that includes Lovecraftian themes.
Pereat Mundus is all that remains pure to the blackened spirit. It is raw, unfiltered, and without compromise.
This is the first wave of black metal that is in total pursuit of darkness and destruction.
