Only a few bands get to celebrate their 5 decades of legacy and Blue Öyster Cult decided to record a concert releasing the album “50th Anniversary Live – First Night”.
“Here they come, the amazing Blue Öyster Cult”, is the proper intro for a band that will unleash all their Rock and Roll with a song named “Transmaniacon MC”.
It is much appreciated that in the first CD would transport you to 1972 because the American band played their debut studio album.
Founding member Albert Bouchard was fantastic as a guest, but it is a shame he was not playing drums in “I’m on the Lamb but I Ain’t No Sheep”. Anyways, Jules Radino does a great job as he is nearly 20 years with the band.
Highlights of the first CD would be “Then Came The Last Days of May”, which is a slow tempo song that differs from the rock tempo, it gets soulful and the solo in the end is a common patron of this band to go crazy. Also, “Cities On Flame With Rock and Roll” is worth mentioning as a highlight, because of the moody riff and jazzy piano.
“All right let’s go”, that is the only introduction the legendary American Hard Rock band needs to start the gig. It is excellent that they still sing and feel the lyrics of Dr. Music, a song that was released more than 40 years ago: “Well, you can call me Dr. Music. Music is my name.“ The second CD of this concert album has started, and they sound as good as ever.
“Rock (Don’t Fear) The Reaper” is a rock anthem that they play it in the most emotional way and fans will find it very catchy, or they can feel the groove in this one. The solos and riffs are outrageous, too.
“Harvest Moon” is also a good tune and a relaxing song. Moreover, it is well received the extended jam sessions, so we can enjoy more.
“50th Anniversary Live – First Night” is proof that Blue Öyster Cult existed for 50 years and has done an excellent job as Hard Rockers. Let their legacy not end here and hear this live album so that they can live a lot longer.
