“POST HUMAN: NeX GEn” by Bring Me The Horizon is a groundbreaking album that firmly positions the band as the future leaders of metal. As time goes on and legendary bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Metallica approach the end of their careers, Bring Me The Horizon steps up with a fresh and electrifying sound that revitalises the genre. Each track on this album has the potential to be a single, showcasing the band’s exceptional songwriting and versatility. The album opens with “YOUtopia,” an anthem built for stadiums with its grand riffs and infectious chorus setting an epic tone. “Kool-Aid,” one of my favourite tracks, combines their metalcore roots with catchy pop elements, creating an energetic and unforgettable experience. “Top 10 Statues That Cried Blood” is another standout, featuring Oli Sykes’ most compelling vocal performance alongside a driving mix of synthesiser and guitar. This track exemplifies the band’s ability to balance harsh and melodic elements, crafting a song that feels both monumental and intimate. My favourite track, “Lost,” is a hyperpop-infused masterpiece that pairs upbeat rhythms with deeply emotional lyrics. This song captures the essence of the album, offering a cathartic release through its powerful beats and poignant message. It’s a track that invites listeners to dance and scream along, embodying the album’s blend of raw emotion and high-energy performance. The album’s collaborations, such as “liMOusIne” featuring AURORA and “a bulleT w- my namE On” with Underoath, showcase the band’s willingness to experiment and push boundaries. These tracks highlight their ability to integrate diverse styles while maintaining a cohesive sound. “n/A” provides a raw, introspective look at Sykes’ personal battles, adding depth and authenticity to the album. The grand finale, “Dig It,” is a seven-minute epic that synthesises the album’s diverse influences into a powerful and cohesive conclusion. This track encapsulates the ambitious scope of “POST HUMAN: NeX GEn,” highlighting the band’s innovative spirit and their capability to craft an epic listening experience. Bring Me The Horizon has created an album they should be immensely proud of, with every track standing out as a potential hit. “POST HUMAN: NeX GEn” earns a perfect 5 out of 5, solidifying the band’s position as trailblazers in the next generation of metal. This album not only honours the legacy of metal’s greats but also carves out a bold new path for the genre’s future.
