Broken Earth share melodic new single “GHOST”

Broken Earth

Sydney nu-metalcore rising stars Broken Earth return with vulnerable new single GHOST, and will launch it live across the East Coast on tour supporting Noctica this September on the Dysphoria Tour. Tickets on sale now.

GHOST sees Broken Earth dive deeper into honest and open songwriting with their emo hook-laden nu-metalcore tune inspired by the crossed boundaries and blurred lines of a relationship that takes more than it gives, and the toll prolonging processing pain can take on a person. Vocalist Raphael Smith draws upon his own experiences with loss and coping as the backbone of the story: “When a loved one died in the midst of COVID on the other side of the world, I wasn’t able to say goodbye the way I really wanted to,” Smith explains.

“I didn’t know how to let myself feel the grief and ended up just feeling numb instead. I pushed down my own feelings so I could be a support beam for others, which created a deep-rooted depression I didn’t realise was there until about a year later. That dam of bottled up emotion burst wide open and I had to let it flow. At that time, people close to me were also going through their own struggles, and so it felt like we were two ghosts talking to each other, holding on for dear life, trying to be there for each other but not able to be there for ourselves.

The track is produced and mixed by long time collaborator Mark Williamson (Inertia, Revoid) and mastered by the legendary Kris Crummett (All Time Low, Sleeping With Sirens, Dance Gavin Dance). The new single is the first to be released for the year, following COVENANT and BREATHE that released last year, showcasing Broken Earth’s sonic evolution and navigation into more refined and realised territory.

To celebrate the new release, Broken Earth will join Noctica on the Dysphoria Tour, which will travel through Tomcat Brisbane on Friday September 13, Bergy Bandroom in Melbourne on Saturday September 21 and The Chippo Hotel in Sydney on Friday September 27.
