Toledo, OH rock powerhouse, Citizen, are releasing their highly anticipated new album, Halcyon Blues, this Friday, 7th August, via Run For Cover Records/Civilians. To mark the occasion they’re sharing the album’s titanic opening track, “Good Fortune“.
Halcyon Blues is a dynamic, confident release that draws on nearly two decades of musical and personal growth to emphatically declare what their dedicated fans already know: Citizen are one of our great modern rock bands–and they’re at the absolute top of their game.
“Good Fortune” follows “I Can See You From Here,” “Halcyon Blues” and “Highs and Lows” (which have drawn attention from the likes of Rolling Stone, Stereogum, Consequence, BrooklynVegan, Alt Press, VICE, and more), and roars to life with a fast-paced beat and powerful melodies courtesy of frontman Mat Kerekes unmistakably dynamic voice. It’s the perfect final teaser before Halcyon Blues arrives in full on Friday.
Citizen will return next February to celebrate the album on their biggest Australian headline run to date. The tour will hit The Tivoli in Brisbane, Liberty Hall in Sydney, The Forum in Melbourne, The Gov in Adelaide and Magnet House in Perth. Joining them on every date are Drug Church.
