Cypecore - Make Me Real

Hailing from Mannheim, Germany, Cypecore emerges as a formidable force in the realm of melodic death metal. Their latest masterpiece, “Make Me Real,” is a riveting journey through a dystopian landscape that pulses with the essence of melodic death metal. The album commences with a track simply titled “Intro,” a crucial prelude setting the somber tone of the journey ahead, seamlessly transitioning into “Neoteric Gods.” Featuring a spine-chilling 10-second scream from vocalist Dominic Christoph, this haunting beginning foretells the dark narrative unfolding, painting a vivid picture of the dystopian future envisioned by Cypecore.

The momentum persists with “Pinnacle of Creation,” opening with an entrancing electronic sci-fi instrumental before Christoph unleashes a visceral bark, plunging the listener into a frenzy of relentless riffage and pulsating energy. “Doomsday Parade” keeps the intensity alive, its monumental singalong chorus destined to linger in the minds of listeners long after the album has ended.

However, the album takes a poignant turn with the title track, “Make Me Real.” This emotional rollercoaster, while retaining Cypecore’s signature style, delves into contemplations of a future fraught with uncertainty. The resonant chorus, led by the haunting refrain, “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you ’bout the world,” is something that has stuck with me ever since first hearing it and makes me think about the possible bleak future that could lie ahead, this track as become a personal favorite and this will be the song to beat in 2024.

Transitioning to “King of Rats,” we’re treated to a refreshing change of pace – a “poppy” anthem with Soilwork-esque verses and a chorus tailor-made for raucous singalongs. But for those ready to kick things up a gear, “Fragments” brings the heaviness back in full force before launching into the album’s first single, “I’ll Be Back.” This track seamlessly blends elements of Cypecore’s signature sound into a fist-pumping, headbanger that captures a little bit of everything Cypecore is about, the perfect song to introduce new fans to the band.

As the album nears its climax, we’re confronted with “Patient Zero,” a contender for the title of heaviest track on the record. With vocals that weigh heavy as lead and an electrifying bridge reminiscent of an underground dance club in a post-apocalyptic movie, this track is a testament to Cypecore’s ability to defy expectations.

Finally, we’ve reached”Outro,” an instrumental pièce de résistance that serves as the perfect palate cleanser after the auditory onslaught that preceded it, A fitting conclusion to a flawless album.

In summary, “Make Me Real” is a revelation – a tour de force that demands attention and acclaim. With not a single skippable track and every song vying for the title of a potential single, this album is a testament to the band’s unwavering commitment to their craft. As the future beckons, one thing is certain: Cypecore is a force to be reckoned with, and their latest release is a shining beacon in the metal landscape.
