Some of the world’s most colossal acts have hailed from Toronto, and Danko Jones is no exception. The hard rock heavyweights have been making their mark for over a decade and have produced a staggering number of albums, raising an eyebrow or two at how some bands seem to ooze talent more than others. Each of their prior releases has received rave reviews and the band labeled a crowd pleaser to witnessing onlookers. Electric Sounds is the latest release ready to hit us all in the face this month. The masterminds behind the balls-to-the-wall atrocity are Danko Jones (Vocals/Guitar), John Calabrese (Bass) and Rich Knox (Drums). Although most of the band members are no longer residing in Canada, Danko Jones creative spirit burns bright and Electric Sounds is sure to get every power-hungry rocker fired up.
First of the 11, Guess Who’s Back, me motherfucker! What an entry. They certainly aren’t shy in letting the world know who they are. Classic riffs, straight up and heavy unapologetic rock is what they’re all about.
Good Times, driving us forward into a melodic sing-along of profanity. ‘We came here to fuck shit up and have a good time!’ We certainly get that impression from the word go.
The album’s name’s sake Electric Sounds, keeps the fire burning, fueling a high-octane desire to hop in the car and just drive, stereo full throttle. Pedal to the metal.
Get High, high-spirited, catchy, and upbeat with a commercial quality yet old-school charm.
Stiff Competition, a contagion of cleverly orchestrated riffage. Danko Jones has the exceptional ability to infect every listener into having this album on constant repeat.
The punk-like overtones of She’s My Baby shows intelligence, the outside the box thinking is unfaltering.
Eye for an Eye, pushing them beyond their safety zone knows no limits and they pull it off with flying colours.
I Like it, and I do like it. The kings of one liner beginnings as every song has a ripper right from word go.
Let’s Make Out, move over Kiss, here comes Danko Jones!
Punky, punchy, raw, workout worthy, What Goes Around satisfaction guaranteed.
Shake your City, I envision it would be one to get the involvement of the spectators at any show. Fists in the air, chanting in unison fury.
