DEMOLIZER – Upgrade (EP Review)

Demolizer

Demolizer is a thrash metal band from Denmark formed in 2018 releasing the five-song demo ‘Ghoul’, later the same year. The band’s debut full-length album ‘Thrashmageddon’ was released in 2020…

…and in 2021, the band released an “upgraded” version of their 2018 demo, simply titled ‘Upgrade’. This version contains three of the songs featured on the original demo, plus a rip-roaring cover of a classic song from a legendary Canadian thrash metal band – more about that later…

…’cause right now, the E.P. roars into life with the ferocious ‘Ghoul’. The savage barrage of thrash is like a meld of Slayer, Exodus, and Municipal Waste – times ten!

The searing vocals lacerate the sky, with the fire and brimstone urgency of ‘Ghoul’ phenomenally fierce. ‘Torture Insanity’ is delivered at a much slower tempo than ‘Ghoul’, but boy do the band increase the menace and sinister feel of the E.P. – for all of two minutes! The immediate and crushing switch to a much faster pace is wicked, with ‘Torture Insanity’ returning to its opening style of sinister foot-stomping as it plays out.

And now for the fastest song on the E.P. – the electrifying paced ‘Get Out Of My Way’. And as you can imagine from its title, ‘Get Out Of My Way’ is an incredible blast of ferocity, delivered at a speed that leaves the ThrustSSC miles behind! The fourth and final song on the E.P. is a blistering cover of Canadian thrashers Annihilator’s ‘King Of The Kill’, the title song from the band’s 1994 album of the same name. And what a cover it is – as fast and furious as the original, but the vicious vocals of Demolizer‘s lead singer Ben Radtleff, adding a much more venomous bite to the overall sound.

Overall, a scorching fifteen minutes of venom fuelled thrash, Demolizer‘s new E.P. is a brutal and savage rampage.
