Drug Church announce additional Australia tour dates & support acts

Drug Church

Fearless US hardcore punk band Drug Church, is thrilled to announce additional dates and support acts for their highly anticipated debut tour ‘Down Under’. They’ve added a show at Whammy Bar in Auckland on August 12 and an additional show at Stay Gold in Melbourne on August 19.

The band have recruited Sydney’s Beerwolf to open up the show at Crowbar, and Melbourne’s Commoner to kick things off at Stay Gold, while everyone’s favourite live act Totally Unicorn join the show in both cities.

For over a decade, the Albany and Los Angeles-based five-piece have been staunchly creating their own singular path in making distinctly outsider music that’s somehow at once welcoming and instantly satisfying.

Lead by vocalist Patrick Kindlon (who also fronts Self Defence Family), Drug Church have earned a cult following with songs that revel in sonic contradictions, seamlessly combining crushing aggression with bulletproof hooks, while the lyrics unflinchingly explore life’s darkness and discomfort with sardonic wit – and without judgement.

The band’s most recent record, Hygiene (2022), delivered their boldest set of songs to date to widespread acclaim. Kerrang gave the album four stars saying: “Listening to Hygiene might just be one of the most satisfying things you can do in less than half an hour”. Forbes declared it a “modern hardcore delight”, while Pitchfork compared the album to fellow hardcore luminaries Turnstile.

Tickets for Drug Church’s debut Australian/NZ shows are on sale now via Oztix. Grab them early and grab them now to avoid disappointment.
