EREGION - Non Omnis Moriar

Eregion is a power metal band from Italy formed in 2012 releasing three albums to date – ‘Lord Of War’ (2014), ‘Age Of Heroes’ (2019), and ‘Non Omnis Moriar’ (2024).

Featuring themes of fantasy, folklore, legends and heroes, Eregion returns with third album ‘Non Omnis Moriar’, delivering ten songs across forty five minutes displaying the band’s immensely melodious style of power metal. The Italian five-piece stand in the same realm as the likes of Blind Guardian, Dragony, and Terra Atlantica, pressing the pedal firmly to the metal as ‘Non Omnis Moriar’ storms into life with ‘Kingdom Of Heaven’ – a short haunting passage followed by blistering pace and power! Eregion are striding tall and proud, shuddering the ground as ‘Kingdom Of Heaven’ gallops on with a sound akin to metallers such as those mentioned above as well as Battle Beast, Iron Savior and Metalite.

A sensational head turner of an opening gambit, the band maintain the phenomenal pace with the galloping ‘Ride Forth’Eregion planting both feet firmly on the monitor! The meld of traditional heavy metal with the band’s root power metal sound is fantastic, ‘Ride Forth’ immensely head bang-able and overly infectious. A blistering double to get pulses racing and hearts pounding, ‘Non Omnis Moriar’ motors on with ‘The Rival Kings’. The band are at their heaviest here, majestically strutting their stuff with total aplomb – the first three songs thundering by in a flash! A breathtaking roller coaster of a start, Eregion moves on to a more melodic plane with ‘Battle To Carry On’, and a level of elegance that’s just shot through the fucking roof! ‘Battle To Carry On’ oozes an immense anthemic feel – think metallers such as Manowar, Powerwolf and Sabaton, and you’ll get some idea of the sound right now!

And with a stunning Iron Maiden-style intro, ‘Earendil The Mariner’ sets an epic atmosphere as it gets underway, building an unbearable air of tension, Eregion teasing every listener into thinking a dramatic gear change is coming! It doesn’t – ‘Earendil The Mariner’ adopting a hymn-like swagger followed by a thunderous foot stomp that threatens to knock planet Earth off its fucking axis! The variation on offer is mind-boggling, the album moving on with ‘Earendil Star’ – a short spooky effects laden intro giving way to more majesty, elegance and pomp than heard anywhere else so far. And then the iconic metal gallop kicks in at full throttle, the old school foot on the monitor feel rising high in the air – traditional metal connecting with power metal in the most sensational way! Eregion have kept the hammer firmly down since the album began, ‘Badon Hill’ taking a little influence from the symphonic, and folk metal genres! The mix of styles on show here is eclectic, ‘Badon Hill’ spanning a number of metal genres to attract a very varied audience – an audience that’s simply gonna love ‘Non Omnis Moriar’.

The infectious level of Eregion‘s third album has been sky fucking sky since it began, the band showing no signs of letting it drop as ‘Far My Land’ comes to life in tribal sounding fashion – ready for a thunderstorm to hit with immense force! ‘Far My Land’ mixes fast pace with anthemic majesty and power metal pomp to deliver the most varied song on offer, so varied in fact I just can’t pigeonhole it into only one genre of metal! And with intensity running in overdrive, ‘Blood Brothers’ enters the fray – and before you all ask, no, it’s not a cover of Iron Maiden’s ‘Blood Brothers’ off the bands 2000 album ‘Brave New World’, and neither is it a cover of Manowar’s ‘Blood Brothers’ from their 2007 album ‘Gods Of War’ – it’s an Eregion original! Just as anthemic and rabble rousing as ‘Maiden and Manowar, Eregion‘s ‘Blood Brothers’ is highly addictive, sing a long-able and will unite a concert audience together as one! And bringing the album to a close, the band veer off the power metal path into hymn-like ballad territory for the poetic ‘England’s Fame’, ‘Non Omnis Moriar’ at its most mellow and serene.

Overall, a barnstorming power metal gallop, Eregion delivers immense head bang ability with a sky-high infectious level.
