Australian metalcore force Future Static return with an emotionally charged new single and cinematic music video, ‘Ornaments & Memories’, out August 5 via Wild Thing Records.

Melbourne metalcore five-piece Future Static have announced the release of their new single and accompanying music video, ‘Ornaments & Memories’, arriving August 5 via Wild Thing Records.

A meditation on mortality, meaning and the fleeting nature of existence, ‘Ornaments & Memories’ draws from Stoicism and the ancient concept of Memento Mori — a reminder of life’s impermanence and the importance of acting on what truly matters.

The track unfolds as an auditory flood, beginning with a slow-burning crescendo before surging into a climactic drop, eventually dissolving into near silence. Its dynamic progression mirrors the song’s central theme: the overwhelming passage of time and the quiet that remains when everything else falls away.

The accompanying music video expands on these ideas, bringing the song’s themes of mortality, dissociation and self-reflection into a visual setting. Together, the track and video are designed to provoke deep thought before turning that reflection into action.

“‘Ornaments & Memories’ is a reminder of how fleeting life is — an auditory arc of a flood, building from a slow crescendo into a climactic drop that falls away until nothing but a whisper remains. Lyrically grounded in Stoicism and the concept of Memento Mori, the song was written for those who find themselves dissociating from what matters, and intended to inspire deep thought followed by imminent action.”

— Amariah Cook, Lead Vocalist

‘Ornaments & Memories’ arrives as Future Static continue their rapid rise through Australia’s heavy music landscape and beyond. Following their #1 Australian AIR-charting debut album, Liminality (2023), the band have established themselves as one of the country’s most exciting modern metalcore acts, earning acclaim from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer and Triple J.

The band have toured extensively across Australia, supporting artists including BABYMETAL, Electric Callboy, Jinjer, Enter Shikari, Don Broco, Lacuna Coil and TesseracT, while international touring has seen them headline across the UK and Europe, support Ankor and Humanity’s Last Breath, and appear at major European festivals including Sziget, Radar, Reeperbahn and Euroblast.

Blending technical precision with melodic chaos, Future Static create music that is both striking and emotionally raw — reflecting themes of personal struggle, resilience and self-discovery. Fronted by the electrifying vocal tandem of Amariah Cook and bassist Kira Neil, alongside guitarists Ryan Qualizza and Jack Smith and drummer Jackson Trudel, the band have become a formidable presence on the live circuit.

With ‘Ornaments & Memories’, Future Static turn inward, confronting the impermanence of life and challenging listeners to consider what deserves their attention before time runs out.

‘Ornaments & Memories’ is out August 5 via Wild Thing Records.
