The festival takes place in Jaroměř, Czech Republic and is set in the historic 18th-century Josefov Fortress. With its unique and atmospheric location, labyrinthine corridors and ancient construction, the fortress provided the perfect backdrop for the intense and immersive performances that Brutal Assault is known for.
This festival is more than just an event; it is an annual pilgrimage for enthusiasts of metal, hardcore, punk, and everything in between and one of the most exciting events on the metal calendar.
Held from August 7th to 10th, 2024, designed to accommodate 42,000 people.
This year’s 4-day festival heard well over 150 artists across 5 stages, each offering a different flavour of metal. This year’s lineup was nothing short of spectacular, featuring some of the biggest names in the metal scene.
Headliners included the legendary Satyricon delivering a powerful performance. The iconic Behemoth certainly didn’t disappoint showcasing their dark, intense style. The Black Dahlia Murder showed us how to do it with their energic performance. The renowned metalcore band Motionless In White had us captivated with their theatrical stage presences and the mighty pioneers of thrash metal, reminding us of our roots, Testament, Carcass, Deicide and Exodus.
From the brutal sounds of Dark Tranquillity to the melodic sound of Red Fang, there was something for every metalhead.
Other notable acts included the raw and powerful sound from Candlemass. The formidable sound that is Spiritbox. The dark and atmospheric performance by 1914 and the innovative elements that make up Misery Index. Onto Others, Madball, Grand Magus, Left to Die and many more acts who just killed their performance
The festival grounds were adorned with various art installations, including metal sculptures and interactive exhibits that added an artistic flair of a different kind. The festival also featured a horror cinema, and a variety of food and drink options to keep the energy levels high. Many stalls showcased local delicacies, giving festival-goers a taste of Czech culture, among the favourites were their freshly baked pastries and locally brewed beers.
Despite the hot weather, the crowd at Brutal Assault #27 was vibrant, energetic, passionate and an enthusiastic mix of metal fans from around the world. Hearing the unified cheers and chants ringing throughout the walls of the fortress amplified the powerful sense of community that metalheads already share.
These moments, along with the stellar lineup, the historic venue, and a community of passionate fans, made Brutal Assault 2024 a festival to remember and an experience not to be missed. See you all there in 2025,
