Imminence - The Black

I’m beyond excited to dive into Imminence’s latest album, The Black! This band from Trelleborg, Sweden is on an unstoppable journey, and their new album is a testament to their amazing trajectory. They teased us with powerful singles like the poignant “Death By A Thousand Cuts” and the anthemic “Heaven Shall Burn,” and now that The Black is here, it’s clear they’ve taken their artistry to the next level! To quote the band directly, “the writing process for The Black was amazingly liberating and unhinged”.

From the moment you hit play, you’re transported into a world of intensity and anticipation with the haunting violins and powerful vocals of “Come Hell Or High Water.” This album is a musical adventure that takes you through the full spectrum of emotions, blending melancholy with raw aggression.

Eddie Berg, the band’s vocalist and violinist, is the true star of the show. His ability to effortlessly transition from delicate singing to intense screams is absolutely breathtaking. Tracks like “Desolation” and “Heaven Shall Burn” highlight his impressive range and pure brutal emotion of his high scream and crushing low growls add incredible depth to the band’s sound.

The signature violin-infused metalcore creates an otherworldly listening experience, especially in songs like Continuum, Death By A Thousand Cuts, and The Black which are so hauntingly beautiful and brutal at the same time! The combination of classical strings and heavy guitar riffs propels you into a different realm, much like we have seen in the music videos that have been released so far. The rhythm section ties it all together with a solid foundation that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

This album is a masterpiece that cements Imminence’s place in the ever-expanding metalcore scene. It’s more than just an album—it’s an immersive experience that leaves you hungry for more. Expect even bigger things from Imminence in the future as they continue to push the limits of the genre! Imminence are a dark horse of the scene and absolutely in the running for album of the year with this release.
