When I first received this album I was a little hesitant to listen to it. Why? Because it’s from a band I hadn’t heard anything about and it kinda scared me.

The whole unknown factor, but that was my loss for those few days where I didn’t listen to it.

pretty standard stuff, then an almighty roar erupts from the singer. Once the song begins properly it is fast-paced death metal with typically fast double-kick drumming and growling vocals. Heavy riffing and pick work from the guitarist, the synthesizers add some really awesome textures to the songs.
You would be forgiven to think at this point that this is a death metal album, but each track has its own individual sound, the song “Stand Against” is a drop-tuned doom with the most guttural pig squeal whom of which had listened to.
I also love “Ugar-Buhlo“; this song has a cool pirate, piano accordion playing along with fast singing in the vein of Alestorm and the pirate metal champion before.
“Embraced by Ire” has black metal themes going on with Celtic touches thrown in for good measure.
Epic sounding gets thrown around too much but I really think that this is adequate at this time. The production of this album is huge, and it’s well written. I have listened to this album so many times since I challenged myself to try bands I didn’t know so I’m so glad I did.
I really like this album and is one of those special albums where I can listen to it the whole way through, then once it’s done, restart it and go again. No problem in giving this a 5/5 roos.
