Halestorm has grown from a childhood dream of siblings Lzzy and Arejay Hale into one of the most celebrated rock bands of the last two decades. Fronted by the incomparable Lzzy Hale with drummer Arejay Hale, guitarist Joe Hottinger, and bass player Josh Smith, Halestorm has earned a reputation as a powerful live music force, headlining sold-out shows and topping festival bills around the world.
The band return to Australia in 2023 so we caught up with Arejay to discuss the tour plus all the things he does outside of the band including his new fragrance channel Dr. Magnifiscent, maintaining physical health and much more.
On coming back to Australia after being in the country for Download Festival in 2019:
Arjay: I’m really grateful for that because we were kind of off the radar during the entire pandemic and the last time we came to Australia I think that was the first time we played the huge festivals down there and that was a game changer. We haven’t been back in so long so I’m just grateful that enough people remembered us and didn’t forget about us and there was enough demand for us to come back.
On keeping busy during the pandemic resulting in various projects:
Arejay: One of the silver linings of the pandemic besides my passion for perfumery – I even have a fragrance channel where I get to just nerd out about fragrance and interact with people in the comments – I also got to have a chance to focus on songwriting and singing and focus on these other things besides touring that were kind of being neglected or put on the backburner for a while and that has translated into this project called Chemical Fire where I’m doing a lot more singing.
