Since 2021 the nameless entity that represents Kafir has been the stalwart of the ideal where the individual is unimportant and the music and message represents all. The chosen location is Saudi Arabia, and the music is deeply Anti-Islamic Hellenic Black metal that began with the debut Rape Your Prophet in 2023. The follow up is An Act of Defiance Against That Is Pure, a continuation of the Belligerence delivered with the essence of Pure Scandinavian Black metal.
Arabic for “unbeliever” Kafir is uncompromising in its lyrical stance it is adversarial and steadfast in its blatant defiance. No Lives Matter, The Reward of the Disbelievers and The Murderer, the Victim, and the Voyeur, burn with a provocation that is backed up by manic tremolic riffing in its urgency to deliver the accusation. The raw intensity of the music that is heavily influenced by the second wave of black metal, furious, yet also tempered by some dynamic rhythm changes, clean picking and selective sampling. Queen Dihya al Kahina has a wonderfully melodic riff set against the chaos and varying vocal patterns and styles that make it unique but also definitive of Kafir’s organic style.
An Act of Defiance Against That What Is Pure is abrasive and utter uncompromising. It blurs the ideal of offense meeting art, where the message is undiluted and delivered in the most extreme, aggressive way possible.
