It’s been a long time since I dusted off the camera and got back into shooting gigs. What a blessing I got on Friday night deep in the darkness of the Crown and Anchor (Adelaide). I’ve been a fan of Freedom of Fear since I had the privilege of driving them to Alice Springs for Blacken Open Air 2019 and have been suitably impressed by their evolution in that time.
This gig was the home leg of their Australian album tour for their beyond epic 2022 release ‘Carpathia’ supported by Adelaide local’s Bifurcation, who literally got the already pumping crowd into a frenzy with a solid in your face set that set the night for the onslaught to follow.
The mob was then treated to Two cracking West Aussie bands, Remission and Xenobiotic, collectively proceeded to rip the punters a new one so to speak. The intensity of both bands left the majority looking for defibrillators due to the sheer power of both performances.
And lastly Freedom Of Fear singer Jade took to the stage almost like an apparition slowly haunting and intimidating us all, then delivered vocals the literally envoked Satan himself. Soul piercing wails mixed with a powerful growl, the unison between guitarist Corey and Matt is indescribable but their pairing is reminiscent of John and Paul, The ever so lovely Georgina on bass was ripping out with a confidence i’ve not seen in her stage performance before and New addition Liam on the skins was tight as ever and set the entirre band up for what awas all in all one of the best local gigs I’ve been to in a while.
