MrKill – The Day of Reckoning (EP Review)

Mr Kill evokes chaos and rain down hellfire with their upcoming Melodic Death Metal release The day of Reckoning. The Day of Reckoning is out on the 31st of July 2020 with physical and digital copies available for pre-order now.

The essence of this album is about being repulsed by the state of affairs of society which enviably leads to the destruction of the world.

Fast riffing, melodic and harmonic guitar lines, with the heavily distorted guitars and squealing imparts the atmosphere of being on a battlefield during a war on an apocalyptic scale. The vocalist has a deep to the higher-pitched vocal range featuring guttural to pig squeal styles with a clear European influence. The hyper-blasting drums are complimented by deep chugs, sonic high notes, shredding, and the surprising gothic quality with the addition of operatic guest vocals.

This album comprises 4 killer tracks with atmospheric intro and outro.

While the songs have a lot to offer, this release feels more in line with an EP, as with an album I expect more material to be on offer. With that being said, the offerings Mr Kill have shown are promising for an upcoming band, and I will be keeping a lookout for their next release.

I rate The Day of Reckoning by Mr Kill 4 out of 5 roos, but instead of roos, let’s make it 4 Apocalyptic Skulls.
