Northlane Deliver New EP + Track “Let Me Disappear”

Northlane

Northlane

For a song where frontman Marcus Bridge expresses his desire to vanish into the music, his stratospheric vocals command your attention from his very first note. In one of his best performances yet, Bridge soars and stuns as he ushers in one of the most impressive breakdowns in the Northlane canon.

“Let Me Disappear is about letting the music do the talking. When I write lyrics, I say what I have to say and then leave it all on the table. I want to disappear into our music and have listeners find their meaning in our songs, but people often expect a lot more than that,” Bridge explains.

Mirror’s Edge follows on from their #1 award-winning album, Obsidian, and sees Northlane team up with Australian heavy music icons Winston McCall (Parkway Drive) and Ian Kenny (Karnivool / Birds of Tokyo), as well as their former bass player Brendon Padjasek, who all lent their immense talent to the EP.

Recorded with their old friend and revered heavy producer, Will PutneyMirror’s Edge takes listeners on a nostalgic journey through all the colours on Northlane’s sonic palette: from the expansive prog of “Afterimage” to their signature bottom-heavy groove and viscous breakdown of “Kraft” and compulsive beat and electronic focus of “Dante”, their latest body of work explores Northlane’s most vivid shades and textures. Metal Hammer said the EP is “powered by technicolour electronic pulse, soaring choruses, venomous growls”, and Wall of Sound marvelled that Northlane “always have something up their sleeve to keep things fresh”. Elsewhere, Forte Mag wrote “Mirror’s Edge is a raw and unflinching body of work”, while Everblack Media declared the EP to be “one of the most anticipated releases of their career”.

“It is extremely exciting to finally release Mirror’s Edge,” Bridge continues. “This EP allowed us to explore what we are without any restrictions, merging different elements of our sound that we haven’t before, bringing together the old and new. We’ve grown a lot as a band since recording this EP and putting these songs out feels like the start of a new chapter. Enjoy.”

That new chapter started earlier this year when Northlane debuted their new songs on their huge Australian tour to rapt crowds. Next up on the itinerary is a trip to Darwin to play at the Bassinthegrass Festival before heading to the Northern Hemisphere for extensive tours of North America and Europe.
