MurderWorld – Out Of The Ashes (Album Review)

Murderworld plays such a delicious infectious brand of aggressive thrash. Their album Out of the Ashes, in simple terms, slays!!! I will come straight out and say it. I love this album. On first hearing, I really got into it – just so good to listen to, it rolled on wonderfully with lots of aggression and overloaded with excellent riffs, pace, creativity, and plenty of variation. I made my way through the first listen enjoying it and letting it sink in. Then I got to the last two songs, Darkest Fears and Obsession For Aggression. These are two of the best thrash songs I have heard, actually two of the best metal songs I have heard.

Darkest Fears is just brilliant with magnificent catchy riffs, seething with aggression. I have played this song over and over again. Would sit very comfortably on any major thrash album out there. Obsession For Aggression is faster with a hard-driving rhythm and hands down one of the best riffs I have heard. So killer! Thank you Murderworld for writing and recording those two songs. True listening joy.

The mark of a great album is that it’s a great play – all the way through with no duds or fillers.

That is definitely the case with Out of the Ashes. The album just flows along nicely with each track, sounding different while maintaining the Murderworld sound.

Murderworld is based in Sydney and this is their only album to date. A four-piece band with Matt Phythian on vocals and those brilliant guitars, helping him on those succulent riffing guitars is Shayne Querruel, just can’t ask for better. Keeping the rhythm flowing is Kaill Leggett on bass and Zac Sale on drums. Very good musicians displaying heavy metal skills.

Seriously this is an excellent album. You must get it. Simple as that!
