Melbourne post hardcore outfit Post Heaven have kicked off a bold new chapter with their signing to Greyscale Records and the announcement of their sophomore EP, The Space That’s In Between, out October 3. Across its four tracks, “End Alone,” “Basic Fault,” “Exit Wound,” and “Hesitation Lover” — the band deliver their most ambitious and punishing work to date, cementing their place as one of Australia’s most exciting heavy acts on the rise.
Lead single “Exit Wound” wastes no time in tearing through the speakers with a vicious blend of metallic hardcore, alternative metal, and fractured breakbeat electronics. The track channels frustration and cycles of self destruction, pairing jagged riffs and dissonant breakdowns with unflinching vocal intensity. It’s the heaviest thing Post Heaven have released so far, and it sets the bar high for what follows.
“End Alone” opens the EP with absolute atmosphere, introducing the listener to Post Heaven’s ability to craft immersive textures before dropping into crushing dynamics. Meanwhile, “Basic Fault” showcases their knack for balancing chaos with melody, weaving in shoegaze inspired passages and electronic elements without losing sight of raw aggression. Closing track “Hesitation Lover” brings a different kind of weight, brooding, emotional, and layered with ambience. Leaving the EP on a note that feels both expansive and haunting.
What makes The Space That’s In Between stand out is its ability to blend disparate influences, from Glassjaw and Poison The Well to Deftones, Rolo Tomassi, and Fleshwater — into a sound that feels distinctly their own. The EP isn’t just heavy, it’s forward thinking, dynamic, and fiercely unafraid of taking risks.
With a live résumé that already includes sets alongside Thornhill, Fleshwater, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Cave In, and Citizen, Post Heaven have sharpened their edge onstage. Now, with this EP, they’ve proven they can capture that same fire in the studio. The Space That’s In Between is intense, innovative, and impossible to ignore.
