NICOTINE
I’ve got to have nicotine or I’m insufferable and bad and horrible. I don’t need to drink. I don’t need to use drugs or anything like that. But I have to have nicotine or I’ll freak out. So that’s probably an unfortunate essential.
PHONE CHARGER
I’ve gotta have a phone charger. Obviously you can’t really do anything without your phone and especially when you’re away from home, you’ve got to be able to talk to your people and loved ones and all that. And get pictures sent to you of your cat and all that stuff, so that’s nice.
HAT COLLECTION
I like to have a myriad of hats. I have hundreds and hundreds of trucker hats. I don’t know why, I just love trucker hats. I have hundreds of ’em in my closet back here, I probably have 200-300 in there. And then I have more in storage. It’s like a horrible compulsive addiction to fun trucker hats. I usually bring seven or eight with me on tour and change them out at different times. I have long hair. It’s hard to keep up with it, so I just put it up and put a hat on and don’t think about it.
COLOGNE
You’ve got to have cologne because you’re meeting people all the time. You’ve got to smell good! Nobody wants to meet some gross disgusting band member, that doesn’t set a very good impression. So I like to smell good. Right now, my go-to is Tom Ford Noir. I feel like if you smell good, you feel good, and you project yourself better as a human being.
SHOES
I also like to have an assortment of shoes when I’m on the road. This isn’t very practical, but this is just how I actually live on tour, I bring a lot of shoes. I’ve got my cowboy boots and I’ve got a pair of Chucks. And you’ve got to have a pair of Nikes, you’ve got to have a pair of comfortable shoes just because you are kind of stuck with the same clothes for a long time. So sometimes if you change your shoes up, you feel better. I think a lot of people that do what we do are addicted to finding more shoes because you go to all these places and you can find stuff you couldn’t find anywhere else. I’m like, “oh, I got to get those!”.
EXTRAS
And that brings me to my last boring essential that I have to have, which is an extra duffle bag because I usually buy so much shit that I can’t fit it in the suitcase I brought with me. I usually end up buying an extra duffle bag to put all this shit in that I bought so I can bring it home. I mean, I live in Nashville, Tennessee, so it’s a nice place. I like it here, but we don’t have a lot of good streetwear shopping and stuff like that, so I’m always having to buy stuff on tour and bring it home. I love shopping, it’s ridiculous. It’s almost like that’s what we do all day, we just go shopping and drink coffee.
