Returning to their emo rock roots, Melbourne quintet Reside share catchy new single, Eden. Offering up chugging distorted guitars, gristly vocals, synth-soaked ambience and a punchy driving force, Eden is about seeking refuge in a space perceived to be a safe haven, but after time you find that same safe space turning it’s back on you.
Produced, mixed and mastered in-house by Guinane, who also doubles up as vocalist for Melbourne metalcore monsters Windwaker, Reside’s latest single is the bands second release of the year, following on from the shimmering alt rock belter Leave You For Dead. With both tunes melding moments of soul and pop sensibility with crushingly heavy sections, Reside set out to pull at the frays of their established sound while tying together contrasting styles appealing to catchy chorus lovers and heavy music fans alike.
Reside formed in 2017 with the longstanding original lineup of vocalist Liam Guinane, guitarists Ariel Johnson and Will Eggleton, bassist Salé Brown and drummer and keyboardist Dylan Houston. Since then Reside have solidified themselves a place in the alternative music community and have managed to capture and engage a very dedicated and loyal fan base.
Reside ticked off the main stage at UNIFY Gathering in 2020 after winning the triple j Unearthed opener competition. In amongst this the band have played multiple sold out headline shows and have toured across the country with bands to the likes of Eat Your Heart Out, Windwaker and Columbus. Reside have also supported artists including Palaye Royale (US), Casey (UK), Marianas Trench (CAN), The Beautiful Monument, Young Lions, Stuck Out and more.
