Tankard – Rest In Beer (Album Review)

After 32 years of thrashing in beer-soaked glory, Tankard once again return. Also returning is the mad professor who failed in destroying the world. Working on his new experiment, he adorns the cover of Tankard’s new opus, Rests In Beer.

Heavier and more to the point than 2012’s album “A girl call Cerveza”, Rest In Beer doesn’t disappoint. Gerry and the lads have created a beer–tasting album of stein–like proportions, the title track Rest In Beer features ripping guitars along with a choir that wouldn’t be out of place in the beer halls of Oktoberfest in Munich (or Frankfurt).

Solid playing from the whole band once again, you can hear how tight Tankard are, proving their worth in the Teutonic Big Four along with the other German Thrash masters. Solid riffs and solos that suit the music give to touch of color and style, the great thing about this album is the recording process where all the instruments can be heard and not fight for sound space. This comes with practice and after 16 releases, countless performances, and a DVD or two; Tankard has done it all and still creating kick-ass tunes.

I wish “Breakfast for Champions” had been around in my teenage years. It would have been my early morning theme song, along with the sing-along anthem of “The party ain’t over till we say so”.

The Tankard party is definitely not over, the boys love a beer, partying and this is the perfect party album for thrash heads all over the world. I think it will be on high rotation.

Rest In Beer features 10 tracks and like a good beer gets better as they go, the louder the better… obviously.

Tankard is the party master and I raise a beer to your honor… Prost!!!
