Who said that metal has to be all doom and gloom? Especially with the way the world is at the moment, it’s a great feeling when you can headbang, throw up the horns and scream along to uplifting lyrics. That is exactly what Perth band Make Way For Man have been able to create with their latest EP ‘Rites’.
Teasing us with the release of singles over the last year, we finally have them together in an EP that displays the wide range of skills the band has.
Unwilling to be boxed into a particular genre, over six songs they have been able to create different moods and styles that take the listener on a rollercoaster of feelings.
From being able to slow nod and really absorb the music to being able to capture the energy of a wild circle pit in a track- ‘Rites’ really has it all.
From the first track Strangers, we are taken on a journey. The band’s vocalists burst onto the track with an energy and passion that sinks right into your soul and you cannot help but pick up on certain lines to want to scream and sing along too, similar can also be said about Victories. MVP is definitely one of those tracks that lyrically gives you a boost and combined with the blistering guitars, it is easily the catchiest track. Ideations had me craving to be in a circle pit and fighting the urge to headbang in public. Rites, the latest single to be released off the EP, has one of the catchiest riffs I have heard in a long time and is another track you want to be screaming along to. If that wasn’t enough, the EP finishes off with a fun cover of Fireflies that can be argued wipes the floor with the original. Overall, this release definitely shows the depth of talent that is in the Australian metal scene and is definitely an EP worth getting your hands on, especially if you need a little boost in your day during these trying times.
