Rvkkvs – The Dynamic Rage Sessions (Demo Review)

Release Date: March 01st 2022 - Independent

From the very depths of the underground metal scene in New Zealand, emerges a beast like no other, Rvkkvs!  The members have a vast array of New Zealand metal pedigree which have included  Bloodfvkk, Relentless Attrition, Forced to Submit, Odiusembowel, Nullifier, Exordium Mors, Stormforge, Sciolism, and more.  So it is not surprising that they will be delivering you an uncompromising ruthless, extreme metal assault.

Rvkkvs have released a demo of 2 tracks which was tracked live at Dynamic Rage Studios in Auckland.  The Dynamic Rage Sessions are a glimpse into the Death Grind band, which see the band live up to their name.  It is indeed ruckus and brutal!

The first track is Kleptomaniac hits you straight in the face, immediately you can see the musical pedigree of the members, the guitar (Raj) and bass (Ross) are perfectly in synch, which is no mean feat when playing at that speed, the drumming from Allan is precision and insanely fast, and Ben‘s vocals are menacing, the timing of vocals and instruments is meticulous.

Guitarist Raj says “in a way this is a continuation of Bloodfvkk but with new members, we decided to change the name, we basically will be pushing out to explore more than just purely grindcore”, he adds “there will be tinges of death and black metal, which are not as apparent in the demo tracks”.

The second demo “Forever” starts with a foreboding narration and ends by repeating “drive you insane, drive you insane, drive you insane” before it kicks straight into another ferocious track.  The beauty of the live tracking and video is that you can see how furious the pace is, at times Allan‘s drumsticks are just blurred.  This track has a really cool groove in places that gives a contrast to the maniacal speed.

Often guttural vocals can border on one dimensional, but Ben switches from lows to highs in his vocal range in a really impressive way.

It works so well with the instruments to add extra layers of depth.

Rvkkvs have plans to do a full release in the future which will showcase the creative exploration of adding elements of other genres into their armory.

Rvkkvs were due to play their debut show Napier Death Festival in early March, but unfortunately, as we are experiencing often with live shows currently, they had to pull out of the show due to Covid isolation rules.

Hopefully, we will see them on stage in the near future and get to experience this brutality live!
