Sabaton – The Tour To End All Tours (Movie Review)

Release Date: October 11th 2024 - Cinema

Sabaton

Sabaton are one of the world’s best live acts and now they’re sharing the energy, excitement and fun of their stage show on the big screen. Filmed in Amsterdam to a capacity crowd, the film looks and sounds amazing, capturing the sensation of being an audience member spectacularly.

Sabaton are well known in certain circles for their war themed…well…basically everything. From the songs to the stage, the stories and history of war are infused into everything that Sabaton do and they take advantage of that to put on an incredible stage show, with props, costumes, and all the way to a firework launching tank drum riser. Amazing!

Starting with a very brief history lesson of the band to emphasise the  gravitas of where they currently stand at the forefront of heavy metal headliners and a quick interview with all the members describing the experience of walking towards the stage to perform, Sabaton launch into Ghost Division, a long standing fan favourite. If you have seen them before you know how brilliant they are live. If you haven’t had the pleasure and like euro power metal with some of the catchiest hooks, biggest sing-alongs, immense crowd participation and a sense of humour you’re missing out on what has endeared Sabaton to legions of fans across the world. Jaokim Brodén (Vocals) sounds as strong as ever. Pär Sundström (Bass and mastermind) thunders along holding down the low end and every bit a showman. Chris Rörland (Guitar and backing vocals) shreds up and down his fretboard having an amazing time while teaming up with Tommy Johansson (Guitar and backing vocals) ripping through solos like a hot knife through butter. Hannes Van Dahl (Drums and backing vocals) smashes his way through every song with the precision of a fine timepiece.

While I’m not going to list the set or surprises in store (you’ll have to watch it for yourself) just know that every tune they perform is played to perfection as always, and they really have gone all out for this film with the stage show and production. Sit back, relax and enjoy one of the best live shows you will see with a beer in hand.
