Shatterface - Anodized

An industrial,  death metal riff infused nightmare of polished chrome and steel combined with pounding rhythms, Sydney’s Shatterface unleash their debut four track Ep Anodize in efforts to reshape the perceptions of current music.

From the opening of ‘’Bitter Days’’ Shatterface set the pace with aggression and a literal full-on approach that marks some excellent drum programming. It also has a large rampant technological and techno edge to it that is perfectly matched by the crunch of the guitars. The vocals of Rob King are effects driven but no less vitriolic and delve into the importance of freedom both psychologically and physically. The riffs are heavy against an undercurrent of atmospheric keyboards. Devoid Of Life carries a dance-infused back beat until the riff kicks in for maximum damage, it at times carries a darkened cybergoth type feel mixed with pure industrial UK/USA sounds and of course some raw riffing. It is a modern metal that is meta morphing into something else. Sand and Blood shows true promise with is gradual build and hidden subtleties whilst remaining heavy and is a highlight.

The idea behind Anodize is to take metal and change it. It’s a bold statement and Shatterface are on the right path to uniqueness with a sound and energy that is their own. It’s cold harsh and unescapable.  It’s a rollercoaster of ideas and musical mayhem!
