SICKWALT – SHOVE N’ LOVE (Album Review)

SickWalt

The story of SICKWALT began in 2014 in New York when Walt ‘Sick Walt’ Novak performed with his co-founder Max Capshaw.  They performed 4 songs which received such a positive reaction that they knew they had to keep this going.

After 2 self-released EP’s, 2021 sees the band release their first album SHOVE N’ LOVE on Golden Robot Entertainment. The album offers 10 tracks of high energy rock and roll, that is guaranteed to get you in the mood to party.

The influences of the band shine through.  Take a cup of rock and roll, add half a cup of punk with a tablespoon of blues, and there you have the overall feel of this band’s music.

Each of the tracks offer a different feel, without losing the integral sound that the band has created.  The vocals are punchy, full of attitude and the lyrics are clever and at times, amusing.  As soon as I played the album, the vocals gave me a David Vanian (The Damned) vibe.

Throughout the album you are treated to all those classic punk/rock n roll elements, “Million Dollar Man” is absolutely AC/DC influenced, a cool track that is impossible to sit still to while listening.

The drums, bass and guitar blend brilliantly together across the album to create an insatiable need to nod your head and move your feet.  Add to that some truly rock and roll guitar licks and solos and you have a ridiculously fun album.

Stand out track for me “Punk Almighty”, so catchy, so much energy, so stuck in my head!

Recommended for fans of rock and roll and punk.
