Sort Sind – I Skyggen af Lvet

Danish melodic black/death metal duo Sort Sind follow up from their EP Forkullet & Forbrændt with their first full-length release. The unforgiving and majesty that is the fury of I Skyggen af Lvet.

Featuring intense war-like riffs I Skyggen af Lvet is a brief confronting affair. Able to recall the influences of primal nineties back metal and infuse it with modern aesthetics and huge elements of European death metal. The result is an artillery-like shelling of the senses that is also dynamic and full of excellent time changes. ‘’Morke’’recalls the majesty that is pure black metal, its naked aggression and utter lack of remorse. ‘’ Foragt’’ burns bright with its intensity and twin guitar attack that assaults the senses. Formed in 2020 by M. Friborg (Sulphurous, Taphos) and drummer Tuna (Apparatus, ex-Phrenelith) the Copenhagen mastery of death metal is not insignificant in their approach, leaving an indelible mark on compositions, it is riff after glorious riff, piled on the senses until you collapse under their weight. There is no need for artifice when the track‘’ Dysterhed’’ burns with the fire of both death and black metal and its refrain. ‘’ “Sortsyn” features the unrelenting intensity that black metal assures in its nihilism and utter contempt for compromise.

Dramatic, at times theatrical I Skyggen af Lvet is staggering with its simplicity to create music that revels in its technicality and talent. It is an intense offering that burns brightly with touches of melody to sear and scar the senses. It is brutal and brutal only; Sort Sind offers no respite and makes I Skyggen af Lvet all the better for it.
