SPEEDRUSH - Division Mortality

Speedrush is a speed/thrash metal band from Greece formed in 2005 that released their debut album ‘Endless War’ in 2016, and sophomore album ‘Division Mortality’ in 2024.

Seven years in the making, the follow-up to the band’s blistering debut has been well worth the wait – Speedrush are faster, heavier, and more aggressive than ever before! Every one of the nine songs on offer is delivered with immense pace and power featuring a sky-high head bang ability that’s gonna wreck listener’s necks right from the off! ‘Division Mortality’ opens with the three-minute intro ‘Division Mortality’ – a menace-driven instrumental that builds and builds the power and pace to a blistering crescendo, the band roaring into life at incredible speed with ‘Ride With Death’ rocketing outta the blocks at maximum velocity! More than maximum actually, Speedrush setting new land speed records as ‘Ride With Death’ scorches the earth with immense head bang ability! The ferocity here is sensational, the speedy Greek thrashers announcing their return in emphatic style…

…a return that has seen seven long years pass under the bridge, ‘Feeding The Carnivores’ maintaining the album’s electrifying speed! Increasing it actually, ‘Division Mortality’ (the album) simply getting faster and faster – Speedrush delivering a bone-snapping, head-crushing blend of brutality and aggression with a hundred percent precision. The opening brace has been jaw-dropping, and my head’s rocking back and forth so violently I’m glad I’m a seasoned headbanger, ’cause new bangers to this pace of speedy thrash are gonna struggle to keep up! Especially when ‘Sons Of Thunder’ explodes into life to maintain the album’s power, pace and purpose, the band a devastating force of nature that’s breezing through every town and city with an all-conquering thrash metal attack – an attack that’s nowhere near over as we’re only halfway through ‘Division Mortality’ (the album), Speedrush hurtling onward with the bone-crushing intensity of ‘Blood Legacy’. In fact, the intensity of the album since minute one has been all-consuming, every listener, fan and follower is totally hooked on everything the band are throwing at them, the band’s vast arsenal seemingly endless!

There’s just no escaping the savage onslaught from the band, Speedrush firing on all cylinders as ‘Division Mortality’ (the album) speeds on at the speed of light courtesy of ‘Divine Damnation’ – and with the speed of light recorded at 186,000 miles per second, that’s fast, very fast! And if you’ve made it this far without pulling a neck muscle – don’t worry, the band have still got two more songs with which to pull ’em further than is humanely possible! The first of which ‘Iron Wisdom’, takes the album brutality to a whole new level, Speedrush bludgeoning listeners with a fiercer ferocity than ever before, ‘Division Mortality’ (the album) is one of most savage thrash metal albums I’ve heard all year! And speedy too, the band just a blur as the album comes hurtling to a close with the longest song on offer ‘Beyond The Vortex’. Clocking in at six and a half minutes in length, ‘Beyond The Vortex gives every listener, fan, follower, thrasher, metaller, mosher and headbanger around the world one final opportunity to go fucking nuts and headbang like it’s the end of the world! And it could well be should Speedrush come barrelling through your neck of the woods! Oh, and there’s just one more song, the outro ‘Fade To Flames’ acting as a warm down from an intense physical workout with its serene stroll and mellow feel – and let’s be honest here, ‘Division Mortality’ (the album) has been an intense physical workout, especially for the neck muscles!

Overall, a ferocious barrage of high-speed thrash metal, ‘Division Mortality’ is brutally savage with a hundred percent head bang ability.
