Aptly titled after the German warhead. Singapore’s mysterious Sprengkopf unleashes a debut album of hateful blackened thrash on an unsuspecting world.
Gloriously old school and full of the vitriolic hate that dominated the eighties, from the opening air raid siren of ‘’ The Time of the End, We Embrace,’’ this is an album that is infused with war and annihilation. The blast beats are savage, as is the tremolo picking.
This is speed thrash combined with the brutality and utter contempt that Black Metal delivers. ‘’ Anthem 666’’ is precisely that, a tribute to all things’ darkness and evil, whilst ‘’ Unholy Nuclear Fallout’’ combines both war and ferocity.
This is satanic war fuelled black metal that cares little for subtlety or modern conventions, it is pure old-school European Blackened thrash that is fast full of aggro that hails the dark lord and utter destruction.
‘’ The Summoning of the White Steed’’ and ‘’ We, The Rotten’’ continue the exhausting pace whilst closer ‘’ Hellfire, I Become’’ adds some dimension with clean playing and spoken word.
Sprengkopf is explosive in its short, sharp, completely full-on approach. It is a familiar post-apocalyptic world in which Satan rules, where only the strong survive and the weak perish. Sprengkopf has lit the fuse of war where speed and metal combine .
