Hardcore legends, Terror, recently announced their upcoming eighth full-length, Pain Into Power, due out May 6 via Pure Noise Records. The album marks a full circle moment for Terror as they teamed with founding guitarist and current Nails mastermind, Todd Jones, who produced the new material. The result is 20 minutes of unrelenting hardcore fury that’s sure to turn heads with longtime fans and the uninitiated alike.

The band have shared another taste of Power Into Pain with their new song Boundless Contempt. The track follows lead single Can’t Help But Hate (which garnered attention from the likes of Stereogum, Revolver, Consequence, BrooklynVegan, and more) and highlights Terror’s unparalleled ability to flip from breakneck speed to an earthshaking breakdown down on a dime.

Vocalist Scott Vogel discussed writing the new track, saying: “This is the one song that every member of the band and Todd all had on their list of favorite tracks on the record. The driving speed of the first half of the song is completely unhinged. I remember when figuring out the breakdown, there was the idea of first having a guitar break bring in the ending and it sounded strong. Todd went and demoed it with bass instead which is a little different for Terror and we all instantly agreed that was the right choice. Much thanks to Ben Cook for being there with vocal oversight which now seems like a Terror staple.”

For two decades Terror have been a constant presence in the world of hardcore. The long-running band have toured and released new music relentlessly, managing to keep up an unparalleled level of intensity that’s made them one of the genre’s most respected bands. Now with Pain Into Power the band are drawing a line between their past and present. Where many bands would rest on their well-earned laurels, Terror pushes forward, and with Jones returning to the fold  they’ve created created an extraordinarily aggressive album that’s essential to longtime fans and new listeners alike.

Terror have also announced a lengthy run of U.S. tour dates in support of Pain Into Power. The shows will include support from Kublai Khan, Sanguisugabogg, and Pain of Truth.
