THE BIG DEAL - Electrified

The Big Deal are a melodic rock band from Serbia, releasing their debut album ‘First Bite’ in 2022, and sophomore album ‘Electrified’ in 2025…

…featuring an incredible twelve songs over a very hard hitting forty four minutes! Fronted by the stunning Nevena Brankovic and Ana Nikolic, The Big Deal are punching harder than ever and will literally knock you into next fucking week! The band – Srdjan Brankovic (guitars), Marko Milojevic (drums), Nikola Mijic (bass) and singers Nevena and Ana – are boasting a much bigger sound than heard on their debut album, the classic metal and rock mix taking centre stage here as ‘Electrified’ roars into life with the pounding party anthem ‘Survivor’ – the sensual voices of both singers seemingly more powerful than I remember! The power and oomph of ‘Survivor’ is astonishing, the band “arousing a sudden sense of great excitement” in every listener everywhere! And that’s not my words – that’s an internet definition of the albums title “electrified”. The albums red hot start becomes even hotter as ‘Like A Fire’ storms in with more energy than the fucking Sun, The Big Deal delivering a sensational opening brace to attract the attentions of every rocker in the world – metallers too, for the band are hitting so hard right now, methinks it’s only a matter of time before the border wall surrounding the heavy metal genre collapses under the weight of the bands music!

And the cracks are already appearing, ‘Fairy Of White’ adopting the iconic “metal gallop” as the band continue their phenomenal surge towards a more metal sound, every metalhead around the world being turned on to the bands wide ranging style of hard rocking music, The Big Deal stretching their musical horizons further and wider than ever before – ‘Better Than Hell’ returning the incredible party feel with added oomph! And if hell is as hot as scientific speculation would have us believe, we’re looking at a temperature somewhere between 9,000 and 11,000 degrees Fahrenheit! Now that’s fucking hot, but not as hot as the two singers on show, both of them as gorgeous as a vibrant sunset, a starry night sky, a loved one’s genuine smile, a err, ahem, sorry, I drifted off into a daydream there! Pinch yourself Mathew, some things are just destined not to be – but what is, is the greatness of The Big Deal, the band’s energy, passion and drive pushing them into the upper echelons of the worldwide hard rock scene! And quite possibly the metal one too if the band’s music continues to get heavier!

And there go the first bricks in the wall that borders heavy metal, ‘Broken Wings’ hitting the wall with immense force, the head of every listener around the world frantically rocking back and forth in an attempt to keep up with the band! The pace of ‘Broken Wings’ is electrifying, even the worldwide mosh pits are gonna get a jolt from this one, sending every mosher nuts with excitement – excitement that’s gonna see smiles a mile wide appear on the faces of everyone! And by everyone, I mean every one of the eight billion people on the planet, there’s just no hiding from the bands sonic assault – wherever you are The Big Deal‘s gonna get you, no matter how far! And for me, far is just over a thousand miles away – so really not that far at all! And keeping the all-consuming intensity intact, ‘Don’t Talk About Love’ knocks a few more bricks outta the wall, the band melding their rock roots with heavy metal and wrapping it all up into a thick melodic monster with a hunger greater than the voracious appetite of the Cookie Monster! And I realise I might be showing my age here, but I’ve just re-worded one of the Cookie Monster’s most famous catchphrases “me want cookie”, to become “me want rock – hard rock”.

And get it I do, The Big Deal finally breaking down the wall to enter the heavy metal genre at speed with the foot to the floor, “foot on the monitor” ‘Burning Up’ galloping faster than a thoroughbred racehorse on its way to winning The Grand National (a British horse race held annually at Aintree course in Liverpool). The band are red fucking hot here, whipping every listener into a frenzied state of euphoria, ‘Burning Up’ proudly displaying the iconic sound of classic heavy metal – ‘Coming Along’ maintaining the previous songs gallop, albeit at a much more melodic metal tempo! The power and oomph is spot on, The Big Deal proving they’re the real deal with a sensational display of infectious rock and metal, the Serbian outfit standing tall and proud on the bridge between the hard rock and heavy metal genres with maybe just a toe dangling into the power metal one!

The band and album continues to surprise me, and I’m sure listeners too with its endless energy supply, The Big Deal more energetic than a dog with a bad case of the zoomies – ‘They Defied’ maintaining the recent magnificent melodic turn ‘Electrified’ has taken, every rocker and metaller on the planet falling in love with one of the hottest bands around right now! Honestly readers, I can’t seem to put into words just how fucking good this album is – even though as you can probably see I’m trying really, really hard! And as the album marches on to its final few songs, ‘Electrified’ is still getting better, ‘More Than A Man’ upping the tempo and oomph to take the metal path once again, every building within the bands sonic range shaken to its foundations by the immense force oozing outta ‘More Than A Man’ – the same force that’s slamming every listener, fan and follower through the floor and into the fucking basement!

And with only two songs remaining, it’s a fair to say that ‘Electrified’ is gonna be right up there in the end of year polls, and quite possibly head the shortlist for the Album Of The Year award too – ‘Break Down The Walls’ doing “exactly what it says on the tin”. The walls surrounding heavy metal territory have well and truly been broken down by a hard rock band evolving into a heavy metal one, the iconic gallop returning with a vengeance as ‘Break Down The Walls’ roars across the land to leave everyone speechless! And speechless is where the band have almost left me, just as they did three years ago with their sensational debut – the bands second album raising the bar to new and uncharted heights, the final hurrah ‘Dare To Dream’, one more burst of electrifying energy to melt the hearts of every listener, fan, follower, rocker and metaller around the world. These past forty four minutes has shown the standard that every rock band has to reach this year, or pass, but then just take a look at how fucking high The Big Deal have set the standard! I’m getting a nose bleed just typing about it!

Overall, a sensational heavy rocking metal tinged hard rock album full of scintillating high energy songs guaranteed to take your breath away.
