The Erinyes are an international symphonic metal band formed in 2022, featuring three fantastic female singers – Justine Daae (Elyose), Mizuho Lin (Semblant), and Nicoletta Rosellini (Kaladia, Walk In Darkness). The band’s self-titled debut album was released in 2022.
The band are named after “The Erinyes” – female chthonic deities of vengeance in ancient Greek religion and mythology, with the band’s debut album a concept album centred around disputes with love interests. All three singers share lead vocal duties, with the band completed by Aldo Lonobile (guitars), Andrea Buratto (bass), Michele Sanna (drums), and Antonio Agate (keyboards).
Featuring inspiration from the singer’s respective bands, the album is a twelve-song symphonic metal tsunami of stunning beauty – in terms of both sight and sound. Opening with the two-minute ‘Life Needs Love’ we are teased and tickled by the singer’s angelic voices against a backdrop of hymn-like majesty. Which gets us all worked up with anticipation for what is to come – the beauty of ‘Drown The Flame’, and powerful soaring vocals over a thundering metal march. The heavy mid-tempo ‘Drown The Flame’ will nod heads hard, the symphonic power metal pomp as perfect as the three lead singers. The opening salvo has set the tone for the rest of the album, with ‘On My Way To Love’ a little heavier but nonetheless intense. The entire album is high-intensity high-energy sizzle – the music is as hot as the vocal performances. Each singer gave their best.
There are a lot of attitudes spread across the songs, ‘Betrayed’ probably displays this more than any other song, in terms of heaviness and lyrical themes. The infectious level of ‘Betrayed’ is through the roof, the continuing sky-high energy levels doing nothing for the current energy crisis the UK is suffering! Just imagine the electrifying atmosphere of a The Erinyes concert – not to mention all the giddy-eyed males staring open mouthed at Justine, Mizuho and Nicoletta. This trio of beauties is hotter than the surface of the sun! With a title that suggests balladry is about to surface, ‘Death By A Broken Heart’ proves me wrong. Big time! ‘Death By A Broken Heart’ is the most up-tempo and energy fuelled song heard so far – and the fastest. The pace is akin to the classic gallop of traditional heavy metal.

The energy and oomph are incredible, with the high-intensity level unbroken, as the album strides on with the staggering majesty of ‘Where Do We Go’. A bolder, much more regal feel descends upon the album, ‘Where Do We Go’ a melodic swagger straight off the top shelf.
So many songs with so many titles making you think ballads, yet halfway through the album and not a single moment of balladry anywhere – ‘It’s Time’ is a thundering wrecking ball, swinging hard and shaking buildings to their foundations. The oomph of ‘It’s Time’ is phenomenal, the elegance of the vocals sublime, and the infectious level higher than any other level ever recorded! An album that began very well just keeps getting better and better. ‘Someday’ the next heavy-hitting symphonic metal monster – and the return of the earlier hymn-like nature. This time coupled with an anthemic stomp, ‘Someday’ striding on, head held high, and gracefully accepting all the applause directed its way. I don’t know where the band are getting all their energy from, but it shows no sign of running out, as the album storms on with the fire and brimstone tinged ‘My Kiss Goodbye’, and an infectious level that has now set new heights – heights that we humans never knew existed! I really can’t put into words how fucking good this album is – but for regular readers and those who know me…you know I’ll try!
It’s like paradise and euphoria got together and created a new level of ecstasy, and then designed a mascot – The Erinyes, and produced their self-titled debut album to prove just how great, great can be. ‘Paradise’ is another mid-tempo high-energy swagger, with hymn-like tendencies colliding with a touch of balladry and smashing into an anthemic wall of sound! Not to mention the faultless vocals – as beautiful as the three lead singers. ‘Take Me’ – and I’m gonna try my hardest to avoid any kind of innuendo-laden puns here – does a hard-hitting slab of hard rock come metal, all sewn together with the band’s root symphonic metal sound. Probably one of the album’s hardest-hitting songs, ‘Take Me’ is a gorgeous gallop of greatness. And like the old saying goes “all good things come to an end” – and so does this album, with the Gothic-tinged and haunting ‘You And Me Against The World’. The slowest of all songs on offer, ‘You And Me Against The World’ still manages a high energy level and a swagger that is both majestic and magnificent…which is a very good summation of the whole album.
Overall, a majestic and magnificent swagger of infectious symphonic metal with faultless vocals and boundless energy.
