The Lightbringer – From The Void To Existence (Album Review)

The Lightbringer has created their own conceptual mythological and cosmogonical world in their latest release ‘From The Void To Existence ’, which can only be described as an epic atmospheric, genre-blending album.

The female vocals are powerful Operatic in style, with a Mezzo-Soprano range with some heavier, darker tones, comparable with Simone Simon (Epica). There are two Male vocalists which are harsh/ black metal in quality, layering growling and screaming styles. Drums create a doomed atmosphere while retaining a bold heavy sound which works well with the melancholic and gothic style keyboards. Guitars and bass are distorted and have a muddy black metal feel.

The tracks bleed into each other, creating an epic story like effect, conceptually feeling as if the album is 1 song in 9 parts.

From The Void To Existence is released in conjunction with an e-book, a tale from “immemorial eras”.

From The Void To Existence by The Lightbringer is a well-polished album with a complex sound, however, I was craving a ‘wow factor’ in its instrumental writing to break up this epic story. This why I rate the album 4.5 out of 5 roo’s, but instead of roos, let’s make that 4.

5 High Spirits.
