Mental Disaster – The Repulsive Abomination (Album Review)

Mental Disaster

Mental Disaster, hail from Kristiansand, Norway. First of all, I would like to say is these guys absolutely blew me away from start to finish. When someone says Norway you think Black Metal. Well, not anymore! Mental Disaster is here to change that from Jan Age’s Vocals to Bernt’s guitar tone and solo’s to Bengt’s bass tone and David’s blasts every track had me banging my head.

The opening riff of The Repulsive Abomination just smacks you in the face telling you to wake up. Before it all kicks in and unleashes an onslaught of an intense barrage of Death Metal make you want more this is one of the stand-out tracks. For me, Jan age summoning his inner Glen Benton – hands down the best Death Metal vocals I’ve heard in a long time.

It brings me back to when Death Metal was Death Metal blasting straight out of the gate. These guys will have you jumping around your house like a madman which is what I did. Yeah sure, I got a weird look from my wife but hey when you feel it you feel it. I would have to say Bow To The Blade is my favourite of the album. The riffs, the drums, the vocals, the intensity just let me catch my breath as I bang my head and try to sing along. These guys know how to write some good Death Metal. They are also adding a few short Black Metal riffs just make these songs unbelievably good; catchy riffs, blast beats and insane solos from Bernt, what else could you ask for? This is old school it just screams Deicide and Blood Red Throne from start to finish.
